Office Support & Financial Assistant 1-Year Internship

Community Living Thunder Bay has been responding to the challenges brought on by COVID-19 successfully; however, we have had to adjust our current team and know there are ways to add to our current team and support our community in a more meaningful way. The Office Support & Financial Assistant Intern will assist our current financial team with developing and implementing policies and practices for financial management, payroll, budget control, and accounting.
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Property, the Office Support & Financial Assistant Intern will work as part of a team to provide support in various areas of office and financial administration, depending both on organizational needs. The Intern’s specific responsibilities will include:
- Support the Director of Finance & Property with the management of the accounting or auditing process
- To collect, understand, process, verify and report accounting related-information to the Director of Finance
- Support the management teams
- Assistance with the preparation of monthly or weekly financial reports
- Develop and utilize spreadsheets, databases and other computer applications
- Manage specialized information, reports, forms dealing with fees, billing, and tracking of projects
- Enter information into the financial accounting system of the company
The successful applicant must be a Business Administration graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program who has graduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university. The position must be the applicant’s first full-time employment in their field of study.
This multifaceted position requires strong interpersonal, organizational and decision-making skills, with an ability to communicate with all levels of the organization. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs are also required.
